Privacy Policy for BAP (Build a Patch) by Udderly Custom

Udderly Custom ("we", "us", or "our") creates software to help merchants customize products. This Privacy Policy describes how personal information is collected, used, and shared when you install or use the BAP (Build a Patch) application (the "App") in connection with your Shopify-supported store.

1. Personal Information the App Collects

When you install the App, we are automatically able to access certain types of information from your Shopify account:

Information from Merchants

  • Store Data: We collect your store's Shopify domain (.myshopify.com URL) and an access token to interact with the Shopify API.

  • Configuration Settings: We store your preferences regarding available materials, colors, fonts, and shapes to display the correct options to your customers.

Information from End Customers

When a customer uses the App on your storefront to design a patch, we collect the following:

  • User-Generated Content: Images uploaded by the customer for the purpose of patch creation.

  • Custom Text: Text input provided by the customer for engraving or printing.

  • Design Specifications: Choices regarding shape, size, color, and positioning of design elements.

  • Order Association: When an order is placed, we link the generated design files (.svg, .png) to the specific Shopify Order ID and Order Number.

We collect this information directly from the end user through the visual editor interface embedded in your storefront.

2. How We Use Personal Information

We use the personal information we collect from you and your customers in order to provide the Service and to operate the App. Specifically, we use it to:

  • Render Previews: To display real-time, realistic mockups of leather patches on hats or other products.

  • Generate Production Files: To process uploaded images and text into production-ready vector cut files (SVG) and high-resolution print files (PNG) for laser engraving or UV printing.

  • Order Fulfillment: To attach these production files to specific Shopify orders, allowing the merchant to fulfill the custom request.

  • Improvement: To optimize the performance of the image processing engine and the user interface.

3. Sharing Personal Information

We may share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.

Data Storage: Data generated by the App (including uploaded customer images and generated production files) is processed and stored on our secure servers. We do not sell this data to third parties.

4. Data Retention

  • Merchant Data: We maintain your Store Configuration data for as long as the App is installed on your Shopify store.

  • Order & Design Data: We retain design files (uploaded images, cut files, and print files) associated with specific orders for a period of time necessary to allow you to fulfill the order and handle potential re-orders or customer support issues.

If you uninstall the App, we may delete stored configuration and design data after a reasonable grace period.

5. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the right to access personal information we hold about you and to ask that your personal information be corrected, updated, or deleted. If you would like to exercise this right, please contact us through the contact information below.

Additionally, if you are located in the EEA, we note that we are processing your information in order to fulfill contracts we might have with you (for example if you make an order through the Site), or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above. Additionally, please note that your information will be transferred outside of Europe, including to Canada and the United States.

6. Changes

We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons.
